    Red devil cichlids inhabit freshwater environments, especially lakes with rocky, vertical sides.

  • Niche

    These social fish live together in large groups. They are typically active throughout the day. Red devil cichlids eat snails, small fish, insect larvae, worms, and aquatic vegetation.

  • Life History

    Females deposit eggs--anywhere from 300-1,000 at a time--on hard surfaces such as rocks or logs. Both males and females guard their eggs for several weeks before they hatch.
